The Homepage has a Whole New Look

It was time for a facelift - and I got tired of looking at the same stuff. So we added a few new blocks to the home page.

  1. The slide show picture box shows you the last 25 projects added to SeamedUP; with the project title.
  2. The homepage Thread lets you know what has been going on; whether a new fabric was added, if members become friends, when someone stashes something.... you get the picture.
  3. What's popular show you what pieces of content have been viewed the most over the last few days.
  4. And we added quick links to get some help. We know, our help pages are not very helpful. But we are working on it.
Let us know if you like the new look. We are working page by page to debug the site and clean up the "look". It's like spring cleaning in the summer. Except hotter.

Creating the Catalog

Behind the scenes {aka in my living with fans blowing on me} we are hard at work acquiring fabric stash information from every major fabric manufacturer on the planet.

Why? Because it is SO much easier to search for fabric on SeamededUP - find it - click add to stash and then add your own personal details such as how much you have on hand, where you bought, etc.... instead of going through your fabric searching for selvages that you've already cut off because you want to make this gorgeous dress!

With the help of some uber volunteers we are streamlining the process so that we can add fabrics that we already know of and of course, new releases as they come out. There is a butt load of fabric people!

Adding to the Catalog does slow down the site.

Imagine this: You are downloading 14 podcasts, printing 22 patterns, using Skype, Tweeting, running a back-up of your computer {you do run back-ups, right?}, editing 60 megabyte photos, and standing on 1 foot - all at the same time. And then some schmo comes along and says 'can you open word and type this up for me?'... Voila - Straw. Camel. Back.

Which is why we are now introducing a weekly Catalog UPdate time! Schmo no more, I say!

You can expect these UPdates every Tuesday morning between 8am and 10am Eastern Standard Time. During this time - SeamedUP will not be available. We will be back online by 10AM the LATEST and with more quilty goodness than you can stand. Well, you can probably still stand.

The first Catalog UPdate will be this Tuesday, July 19th. See you at 10am.=

SeamedUP has a podcast!

Brye and I (Allison) are thrilled to announce our first podcast as the co-founders of!

Every other week you will be able to catch up on new and exciting features on the site - as well as learn more about how the site operates - all in an effort to help you better take advantage of this resource!

Of course we will also be chatting about the projects contributed by members - that is our favorite part :)

We have a lot of plans (like always) for the future of the podcast and we are both excited to be back at the mike!

Here is a little collage of the 4 picks from member projects for this week!

Links to the projects in SeamedUP:

Please note: You will have to be a member to view the projects - but - membership is FREE!
