Cast your Vote!

We have added a poll to the blog so our members can help us select amongst the zillions of absolutely gorgeous fabrics that we can add to the SeamedUP database and then YOU can add to your STASH.

So - go ahead, cast your vote. This poll closes on May 1, 2011.

Thanks!!=

Hey Kaffe Fans!

SeamedUP just uploaded a bunch of Kaffe prints - and we are working on more!  This week also saw the addition of 4 collections from Robert Kaufman.

You may wonder why it takes a while to fill up the database with fabrics for you to pick and choose for your stash and projects.

It is because we CARE about the details.  The description of the fabric, the colors in it, the designer, the year it was released, the category is belongs in - these are details that yours truly - the database dame - researches and confirms so that you don't have too.  Why bother? Have you ever met me? I'm a bit of a 'it's all in the details' kind of dame.

So come on by and fill up YOUR stash today!=

Flit ~ Flit ~ Flit

Friday Feature
What is the Deal with that FLIT Thing?!

When Allison and I first started brainstorming this website one of the very first things we wanted to do was to name it. We went back and forth with several names (Allison's idea was Quiltivus). But what both of us really liked was "Flit". Unfortunately, it was already taken. www.flit.com is some kind of shopping website. We finally came up with SeamedUP and it was a perfect fit.

A few months later, when I started developing the website, we knew we wanted a page that showed random info; we both LOVE www.etsy.com 's POUNCE button. So I decided to call this button "Flit". See, we got our first name in there anyway.

Right now you can find the Flit button on the Fabrics, Patterns, and Projects tab main pages. It is usually towards the top or just below the fold. When you click on it, it will take you a random display of 70 Fabrics, Patterns, or Projects. Guess What! At the top you can "Flit Again!" We kind of see this as mesmerizing eye candy.

When you get to www.SeamedUP.com, the amount of content may be a bit overwhelming. Where do you start? Flit may be a good place to go. From there you can click on any of the pictures to take you to the details. Breadcrumbs or similar fabrics or links can help you from there.

Personally, Flit is one of my favorite features of the site.

Known Issue - sewing room menu

Wouldn't you know it, just when we launch a new feature we find a problem with it. I guess it doesn't matter how much testing you do, I can't catch everything.

What is happening is some users do not see their sewing room menu. I haven't done much troubleshooting yet, but my first impression is that if your sewing room is empty you get the message "sewing room menu is not working".

Please be patient. I will debug this issue as quick as I can; hopefully by the end of the weekend.

If you find any other freaky bugs like this, shoot me an email at techgoddess@seamedup.com.=

New Feature - I Can See Your Sewing Room!

At SeamedUP we are continuously making improvements. This past weekend we launched a new feature on the site. You can now look at ALL the pages of another member's sewing room!

When we first made the site live you couldn't even see other member's info. Then we added chat with links to profiles. Next we added the Projects page to highlight member's projects. But you still couldn't see other member's stuff. NOT ANY MORE!!!!

This is one of our most exciting upgrades. Now when you look at a project there are links to the member's other projects, the member's profile, their sewing room, and their projects page within their sewing room. Once in their sewing room you can click on all same links you can in yours, but you will see their stuff. We even added a user profile pic to the sewing room so you won't get confused about who's stuff your looking at.

Other additions include:

  • sewing room menu on the profile page
  • new button for adding projects, stash, or patterns to your sewing room - FYI - this will only show if you are in your own sewing room.
  • Up for trade button has been moved to the left, above the pattern/stash name
  • The sewing room tab at the top of the screen is now a drop down so you can go directly to the page in your sewing room you are looking for.
  • A more organized dashboard page; separating projects, stash, patterns, UFT, and Favs.

Well, I am off to tweak the sewing room some more.

New Feature ~ Projects Page!

This week we added a new tab to the top of the page. THE PROJECTS PAGE.

This page is devoted to all of our wonderful and talented SeamedUP members. It features a random display of projects added to SeamedUP!

View projects by type, see fabrics or patterns that were used in projects, sit and watch a rotating display of project pictures, or browse some highlighted projects listed down the side.

Do you want your project highlighted?! Just add it to your SeamedUP sewing room!
