Bloggers' Quilt Festival!

It's time for the Bloggers' Quilt Festival! Thanks, Amy, for this awesome celebration of all the quilt bloggers who make up our community.  If you landed here from the festival, welcome.  We would love to have you join the Seamed UP community - it's free!

The SeamedUP girls couldn't quite decide on a quilt for the festival at first.  Then we remembered how much fun we had with the Modern Blocks Quilt Along.  Since Brye was the only one to complete her quilt, choosing one was simple!

Brye made all of her blocks and then made some smaller 6" blocks to scatter through her design.  This was a real "outside the box" moment for Brye, who typically buys fabric for one project at a time and has no stash at all.  (I know, right?)

She challenged herself to make this entire project from the few scraps she has had left, and was able to accomplish that goal.  It just goes to show how versatile those Modern Blocks really are!  It's also a great stashbuster project.

Sew-Ichigo and a Giveaway!

We are thrilled to congratulate member Penny Michelle Layman, Seamed UP Podcast co-host (episode 13) and author of the Sew Take a Hike blog, along with Kerry Green of Very Berry Kerry.

Sew-Ichigo is their new pattern design company, and they are celebrating the release of their first pattern set, Kitchen Classics.

Kerry writes that she and Penny "were drawn together through a mutual love of paper piecing and kitchen themes. We have been plotting and hatching for some time developing a project where we can work together and so Sew-Ichigo was created. We aim to combine our graphic, quirky, cute styles to make you the best paper piecing patterns we possibly can."

Penny says "My inspiration was, of course, my personal KitchenAid and some vintage metal magazine holders."

If you'd like to win your own copy of the Kitchen Classics line, leave a comment sharing what your favorite kitchen gadget is.  Maybe it will be featured in Kitchen Classics 2!=
